Why: PROMOTING ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS WHILE SHOWCASING STUDENT ART IN PUBLIC SPACE
How: DECK THE CHAIRS IS PARTNERING WITH THE CITY OF JAX BEACH, BEACHES GO GREEN, AND WASTE PRO TO WRAP ENVIRONMENTALLY THEMED STUDENT ART AROUND 24 TRASH BINS IN HIGH TRAFFIC CITY SPACES. DECK THE BINS STUDENT ART CONTEST OPENS MONDAY, MARCH 31 AND RUNS THROUGH FRIDAY MAY 16. THE GOAL IS TO PROMOTE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS WHILE SHOWCASING STUDENT ART IN PUBLIC SPACE.
Students interested in participating will be able to enter alongside parents and/or teachers. Deck The Bins application and associated template for artistic work can be found at deckthechairs.org/deckthebins. Completed artwork and application will be digitized (scanned or photographed) and sent to info@deckthechairs.org. Artwork must be scanned high resolution (not to exceed 10mgs). Entry must be received by Deck The Chairs no later than 11:59 PM EDT on May 16, 2025. No other method of entry will be accepted.
Work will be reviewed by panel of professional local artists with selections announced May 23, 2025. All winners will be showcased on Deck The Chairs web site and social galleries. Installation of art panels on wooden bins kicks off June 1 with completion expected June 20.
To submit artwork all students and adult representatives must review the Official Rules & Regulations, and complete official applications as well as approved template for artwork.
Submissions must be received no later than May 16, 2025 by 11:59 PM EDT.

DECK THE BINS RULES
• Deck The Chairs, Beaches Go Green, and Waste Pro employees plus immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
• Original artwork only. Copying and tracing will not be accepted.
• Deck The Chairs and all partners are not responsible for lost, late or misdirected entries, or incomplete/incorrect entries.
• By participating, contest entrants:
- Represent that they have complied with these Official Deck The Bins Contest Rules.
- Have received parental consent and grant Deck The Chairs the right to use his or her name, city, and state.
- Release Deck The Chairs and partners from any and all liability in connection with Deck The Bins Student Art Contest.
• This contest is open to students in the North Florida area only. Deck The Chairs is unable to award prizes to those in counties outside Duval, Clay, Saint Johns, and Nassau Counties.
• Distribution of funds may take 2-4 weeks following Deck The Bins Student Art Awards announcement
• All submissions must come to info@deckthechairs.org with file formats of a JPG or PDF. All submissions must be completed by a parent or guardian age 18+ with correct contact information.
